1st Mate Amaltal Mariner

Talley’s is proudly New Zealand-owned and operated. We run six deep-sea fishing vessels with primarily Kiwi crews bringing the best New Zealand seafood to the world. We are seeking an experienced individual interested in stepping into a key role on one of our esteemed vessels as a 1st Mate. You will be responsible for assisting the captain with vessel operations, operating the vessel while the captain is off watch, and supervising the deck crew.
You'll earn great money on board the Mariner, all with comfortable cabins. The Mariner has Starlink, so communication is seamless. There is plenty of space to relax in your downtime.
We’re looking for:
- Has a positive can-do attitude.
- Demonstrates honesty, reliability and ambition.
- Displays self-discipline and motivation.
- Possesses extensive knowledge of trawl maintenance including net mending, splicing, and adept problem-solving skills.
- Brings a minimum of five years of experience working on deep-sea trawlers, and at least two years in a leadership role.
- Is familiar with stock taking procedures.
- Holds a valid MFV-U Maritime Qualification and Maritime Medical.
- Has a strong commitment to health and safety.
- Holds a current New Zealand passport.
- A clean criminal record.
- Maintains a Drug Free status.
