At BestStart Wigram, we know healthy food plays an important part in supporting tamariki to learn, grow and flourish. Located in the vibrant Wigram Skies subdivision near Hornby, our purpose-built childcare complex is home to two unique centres and seven classrooms, creating a busy, welcoming environment where you'll become a valued part of our wider centre whānau.
About the Role
As our Centre Cook, you'll prepare delicious morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas, creating varied and culturally inclusive menus that encourage healthy eating habits.
You'll oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen, including weekly food ordering, budget management and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. You'll also confidently cater for allergies and dietary requirements, ensuring every child can safely enjoy the meals you prepare.
This is a permanent, full-time position working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
What We're Looking For

- Has a passion for cooking and baking
- Understands nutrition, allergies and dietary requirements
- Demonstrates excellent food safety and hygiene practices
- Is organised, reliable and confident working independently
- Is comfortable creating menus, placing orders and managing a food budget
